La damassine, produit emblématique du Jura

L’eau-de-vie de damassine a obtenu l’AOP Damassine au printemps 2010 à la suite d’une décision du Tribunal Fédéral. Frédéric Schneider était au premier rang parmi les défenseurs du dossier en tant que membre du comité de l’Inteprofession de la Damassine.

Véritable ambassadrice du Jura, et notamment de l’Ajoie, la Damassine est la troisième eau-de-vie à obtenir une AOP, après l’Abricotine et l’Eau-de-vie de poire du Valais.

Damassine AOP et damasson rouge ou prune de Damas

Une clause du dossier AOP prévoit que le fruit du damassinier soit désormais appelé « damasson rouge » ou « prune de Damas » tandis que le nom « Damassine » sera réservé à l’eau-de-vie.
